日本新生銀行以PC Farm取代Mainframe

今天在公司晨報聽主管參訪日本新生銀行的過程，其中最令人驚訝的是，新生銀行使用PC Servers取代傳討銀行業所使用的IBM Mainframe，雖然今天還未聽到任何關於IT方面的資訊，但預告了這消息，非常振奮，趕緊搜尋，找到Windows in Financial Services文中的說明。至於IT方面等細節，就等明天主管更清楚的說明。
Japanese bank unplugs the mainframe for better performance
To provide flexible, 24-hour service to its customers through multiple channels, Japan’s Shinsei Bank decided to transition from a mainframe to Intel servers running Microsoft. The new system improved service and cut maintenance demands, allowing the bank to shift staff to new projects.

Intel網站上的Enterprise Solutions for Retail Banking-Case Study-Shinsei Bank-Overview。題外話，恰好注意到Intel換logo了。
從Intel文中介紹得知新生銀行使用i-flex solutions的FLEXCUBE，其中的Nippon Shinko implements i-flex solution's FLEXCUBE新聞稿。在i-flex網頁中亦宣佈Citibank也採用FLEXCUBE。
從這些資訊看來，Mainframe可能有一天將走入歷史。更令人驚訝的是，這間i-flex公司是位於印度孟買，又再次印證了地球是平的中的論述和觀點。
